In-house Marketplace: Launched, with Sellers and Sales

A new digital marketplace, separate from our e-commerce platform, built to outperform the main store and allow third-party sellers to grow.

What It Is

This is a new project, independent from our in-house e-commerce platform. The marketplace is already launched and operational, with registered sellers and real sales. Right now, PEI Digital is the main seller on the catalog, which lets me test offers, pricing, and customer service before opening up more space for third parties.

The goal is to surpass the e-commerce platform’s customer base of over 10 thousand and start onboarding third-party sellers at scale.

Current Status

  • 20 registered active sellers, not including test and internal accounts (production database, 21/09/2026).
  • Over 14 thousand active products and over 11 thousand published listings, almost all from PEI itself (21/09/2026).

What Broke and What I Fixed

A bulk update took down the backend. On 20/09/2026, updating 22 thousand products saturated the event queue and pushed the backend to 98% CPU, taking the store offline. I now treat bulk loads as an availability risk.

One visitor, 103 sessions. The tracker was opening a new session with every page load. The visitor journey never closed, and attribution was incorrect.

A purchase was counted three times. When a customer reloaded the thank-you page, the sale was registered again. Now, each sale is counted only once.
